Why is it that a lot of people listen to The Beatles but hardly anybody listens to The Doors? 10 points?

Like I was watching some vh1 100 Greatest Artist of all time countdown The beatles were ranked 1 and as for the doors they ranked 60! and not to mention Janis Joplin the best female rock/blues singer ever was ranked 72! WTF? and most people out of people i know and other random people listen To the beatles but never to the doors? it does not make much sense to since they were around about the same time. I prefer the doors over the beatles but the beatles are very good too.
