In the Color Purple where Whoopee Goldberg's character Celie is seen leaving her abusive husband and her parting words are... "I may be Black..I may even be ugly...but I'm HERE! And off she drives in the rumble seat of a convertible to a new life. Another moment in the same movie is when she is on her porch and sees these beautiful fabrics flapping in the wind and runs across the field realizing she sees her sister whom her husband ripped away from her when she was a child bride. What a tear jerker of a movie.
