Need new running shoes!?

So, I've worn out my old shoes, and I'm tired of just letting my mom buy my new ones. (It's not like I wear them casually) Anyway, I've noticed my friend's Pumas (Speed Cats?) appear like they conform well to their feet and they look like they would feel less like shoes in that they look like the soles would bend easier (sort of like Converse). See, I hate wearing shoes. I feel like they slow me down and like I have more traction, control and speed when I run barefoot. I want a shoe that gives me all the protection of a shoe, without hindering my running. Nike Airs are out, since those were my last shoes, and I don't like Shox. I looked at the Nike Free V4s, and I think they look promising. I don't care much for the look of Pumas, but I'm open to them. Any suggestions for a light, form fitting shoe (for a girl)?
