TAIWAN: do Taiwanese boys hate to have to serve in the military?

Conscription, forced military service for the boys, has been abolished in most Western countries, not Germany, though. Generally, boys hate, or hated, to have to serve one or several years, harsh basic training, chores, punishment, often hazing of new recruits by the older soldiers. How do boys in Taiwan feel? What do women think? Do they believe that it is necessary to be prepared to fight for the country, or that it is a useful initiation rite for boys etc.?
