Should I get back together with my ex-girlfriend?

I'm 26, and was with my ex-girlfriend for 4 years, actually own a condo together. About 9 months ago, she told me that she wanted to break up because we were not getting along so well. As you can imagine this was a difficult break up. My family, who loved her very much, was extremely hurt by her actions since they saw how I was forced out of my home and did not handle the break up well. Recently I have reconnected with my ex, and have re-realized how much we still love each other. We have found common ground and are settling some of the causes of the break up. We both want to get back together, but are weary about how our families will handle this, since hard feelings still exist. I have always believed that we were meant to be together, even through the tough times. Should I follow my heart and pursue a relationship with my ex again,despite my family's reluctance to accept her back?
